Heated water attacks all metals but not porcelain. That's why Suburban uses a porcelain-lined steel water heater tank with an anode rod to absorb the electrolytical action - just like your water heater at home.
With regular inspection and replacement of the anode rod the tank life can be greatly extended.
These anodes need replacing regularly and should be checked.
The life of the anode depends on how much water is put through the heater and the quality of the water being used. At minimum we suggest they are changed every 6 to 12 months.

- Magnesium anode rod
- Provides corrosion protection
- Fits Suburban heaters
- Should be replaced every 6 to 12 months
